FUJIFILM Innovation Centre

The FUJIFILM Innovation Centre project began with a straightforward brief, install a projector, and quickly evolved into a visual and audio solution.
Rapallo was initially engaged to install the FUJIFILM FP-Z8000 projector within a new exhibition space. The installation presented some unique challenges, particularly working with a suspended ceiling while ensuring a secure ceiling-mounted solution. To achieve this, our team engineered a custom mounting approach, anchoring support structures to the concrete subfloor above. This ensured the projector, weighing close to 30kg, was both stable and compliant from a seismic safety perspective.
Following the successful installation, the brief expanded to include audio and a dedicated screen in the Fujifilm Innovation Centre. With much of the fitout already completed, we worked within the constraints of the space to deliver a clean and effective solution.
We specified three Klipsch 8” in-ceiling speakers positioned at the front of the room, powered by a Russound 3.1 Mini-AVR. Low-frequency support is handled by a Mission subwoofer, connected via a wireless subwoofer kit for flexible placement. Audio is sourced directly from the projector via its 3.5mm output (from the HDMI source), keeping the system simple and reliable.
To complete the Fujifilm Innovation Centre space, a 150” fixed frame screen was installed, precisely fitted between the door controller and the adjacent wall.
The result is a highly functional and engaging presentation environment, ideal for showcasing films, documentaries, and photographic work, delivering both visual impact and immersive sound.

Private Cinema Retreat

The Private Cinema Retreat; in 2025, Rapallo was engaged to help transform an exceptional garage conversion by discreetly integrating a cinematic experience within the space. The brief was clear, create a cinema space that remained visually concealed and fully aligned with the room’s refined aesthetic.
Our team specified a Sony VPL-XW5000 projector, installed on a custom lift within the entrance area so it remains completely hidden when not in use, appearing only when movie time begins. To preserve the clean architectural lines of the room, in-wall speakers were selected throughout the system.
As there was no physical space available for a dedicated centre speaker, we implemented a 4.1 configuration, carefully tuned to generate a convincing centre image from the left and right channels. This approach delivers clear dialogue and a cohesive soundstage while maintaining the minimalist design brief.
The system electronics, including the Denon amplifier and Apple TV movie source, were discreetly housed within the beautifully designed kitchen space. This keeps the technology completely out of sight, ensuring the room retains its elegant, uncluttered look when the cinema is not in use.
The original concept called for an on-wall screen positioned on the end wall. However, after final site considerations (and a mistake on our behalf) and the placement of curtains, the Indigo acoustic transparent screen was instead mounted to one of the architectural beams within the room, a solution that proved both practical and visually harmonious.
The result is a beautifully integrated entertainment space where technology disappears into the architecture, giving the client a private retreat to enjoy movies or live sport in complete comfort.

Anthem Home Theatre Update

Rapallo recently completed a Anthem home theatre update, replacing an ageing Anthem MRX720 with the new Anthem MRX540 to bring the system up to current performance standards.
The MRX540 delivers a cleaner, more dynamic soundstage with improved processing and control, making it an ideal foundation for a modern home theatre while maintaining the reliability Anthem is known for.
As part of the installation, the room was fully calibrated using Anthem Room Correction (ARC). This process measured the acoustics of the space and fine-tuned speaker levels, distances, and frequency response to suit the room’s unique characteristics. The result is tighter bass, clearer dialogue, and a more balanced, immersive sound across all seating positions.
With calibration complete, the system was configured for home theatre use, including source setup, surround modes, and user-friendly control via an Apple TV. The upgrade has transformed the room into a more engaging and cinematic experience, showcasing how the right electronics, properly set up and calibrated, can make a dramatic difference to both movies and music.

Business Space Fitout

The Business Space Fitout was a job carried out in West Auckland for 3-4wks in total. It started as a small project as they sometimes do and then morphed into other areas.
We started the Business Space Fitout with a pair of amplifiers and a projector for the boardroom and in the end it was 4 zones and a mix of commercial / residential products. The space ended up with:
- Boardroom – we made a new mount and ceiling cover for a new screen and installed it. Added a new projector, some SVS Prime Elevation Speakers on the walls to create an audio zone + a presentation and visual zone,
- Office – a simple zone with 4 x Klipsch 8″ in-ceiling speakers that run off a Denon amplifier to create a sound zone for the office space.
- Training Space – this was a cool space that consisted of a mixture of residential (streamer & projector) and commercial AV products. The space is a multi-use room that allows streaming music, a microphone for presentations and a ultra-short-throw projector that is ceiling mounted for streamed content or a HDMI link to a PC. The sound is managed by 6 x 8″ Sonance in-ceiling speakers running off a Australian Monitor amplifier and mixer.
- Warehouse – the warehouse team have 4 x 8″ on-wall Sonance speakers run off a Australian Monitor mixer and the sound is provided by a Denon amplifier. Now the fight is on to see who controls the music.
All of the gear for the Training Room and Warehouse are housed in two x wall-mounted racks to keep them cool and connected, while the other two spaces have the gear in central locations.

Naim + Paradigm HiFi Space
The Naim + Paradigm HiFi Space. We’re thrilled to share a recent project we completed for a client in Auckland.
The client wanted to transform their listening space into a world-class HiFi environment on a certain budget, where every note, tone, and frequency could be experienced exactly as the artist intended. The project aimed to strike the perfect balance between acoustic performance, aesthetic design, and user-friendly integration.
Bensan worked closely with the client at Rapallo’s experience rooms, we designed a custom HiFi setup featuring high-end Naim amplifiers, Paradigm speakers, and Audioquest source components to deliver uncompromising sound quality.
When we installed the system, we optimized the room acoustics for an immersive listening experience.
The outcome is nothing short of breathtaking with crystal-clear sound reproduction, from delicate vocals to thundering bass lines.
It’s a visually stunning yet simple space that feels inviting and refined.

Focal Entertainment Space
The Focal Entertainment Space is a great project. It showcases what can be done with floorstanding speakers in conjunction with a TV.
The client spent quite a bit of time with us (Bensan) in our experience rooms. It helped them to understand the project, the Focal speakers and the outcome they were going to get on the space for music, movies & sport. This is why our experience rooms are so important.
Our team scoped the project hardware and once approved we delivered that on site. The client arranged the install of the TV, brought a new cabinet (for the centre / amp) and got the carpet lifted to run the speaker cables to the rear speakers, based on our cabling diagram.
Once installed, Bensan headed up to setup and calibrate the room for the content and placement of the speakers. As there are quite a few hard surfaces it took a few hours to get it sounding great. We are really happy how it sounds and looks.

The Sunken Movie Space
The audio design for the sunken movie space isn’t by any means perfect due to the room design, but its turned out to be a great relaxing space for movies and TV in the evenings.
Working with one of our partners Leck Electrical, we did the initial scope and worked with the client on options for the space. As the project was lead by the team at Leck Electrical, when it kicked off, we provided wiring and placement plans for the initial pre-wire.
Fast-fwd 6mths and the day came to do the final setup and fit off. Add some speakers, the amp, the projector and screen and it was time to setup the space, do the audio tests and do an initial (as its not yet run in) sound calibration.
Got to say, we loved the sunken design, and on a winters night with the fire going, its a stunning spot to watch a new movie.

The Long Room Theatre
The Long Room Theatre is a project we did a few years back. We have just been back to fix a projector issue, and its still looking great.
When we initially got involved in this project, the client had finished the house build and got us in to retro-fit the theatre into the space, as it had been pre-wired and was ready for the ”gear”.
Our team went onsite and did an initial consultation based on the room they wanted to fit-out. We provided a hardware spec and once approved, we then completed the installation, the calibration and left them to enjoy.
Roll forward a few years and the room is now a well used space. This was shown when the projector needed some maintenance and was away for a couple of weeks, they missed the space and the movies.

PROJECT:
Multi-Use Movie Room
The Multi-Use Movie Room – Over January 2025 the client liaised with Rapallo to spec a room that was for multiple uses. Some compromises were required, but we specified it well and it works…well.
Using a range of Focal on-wall, in-ceiling speakers it kept the room to the bare minimum with limited intrusion in the space. Integrating with that was a Sony 4K projector and an Indigo Tab-Tenson On-Wall Motorised Screen. Adding some of the important bass a subwoofer is positioned to front of the room. The room content is controlled by a Anthem AVR.
Rapallo carried out the installation for the client, and then due to the room being a compromise we spent a day doing time-alignment speaker calibration to get the most out of the placements. The sound was quite surprising, and as usual the image from the Sony was amazing.

The Movie Bunker
The Movie Bunker was a project from over 6yrs ago. A dark eco-system specially setup for movies.
We have managed the room since it was built, but with new owner taking over the house we have been in to tidy up some cabling, adding a new source (Apple TV) and making sure the sound from the ELAC / SVS combination was working well.
