MultiRoom Movies & Music
We were approached by the client, a large property developer in the Waikato in early 2020. He was building his own home and wanted multiple areas of sound, and two areas for visual content. This is a MultiRoom Movies & Music project that we love.
Our team worked with the client at Rapallo and remotely to produce a spec for the project and to assist with the pre-wire and placement as the project took shape. Once the spec was agreed, we order all the product into Rapallo’s installation store and setup a bay. This ensured when the project was ready for fit-off / completion all products were on hand and ready to go.
Fast forward to December 2022 and the project was installed, calibrated (by Rapallo) and commissioned. It sounds and looks incredible with many zones, plus the AV rack the client has design & made is something else.
Project Setup – MultiRoom Movies & Music
- Media Room – 5.1.2 platform using Klipsch, SVS, Denon & Blustream products based around a TV for the visual content
- Sound – 8 zones of sound using two Denon HEOS Drive HS2 Multi-Zone Audio Streaming Amplifiers. This is spread all over the home, with sound in the bedroom, outside deck, cabana area, garage, internal dining room and other spaces where the client wanted control over the sound when entertaining.

PROJECT:
The Klipsch Home Theatre Room
Rapallo were contacted by the owner of this home who wanted a home theatre that was based around the Klipsch range of products and they all had to be grilles off. Let the copper colour show.
The brief for the room was for an amazing sound, Klipsch products all around and immersive sound while also still being able to be used as a lounge. We came on site and looked at the room which had some strange angles and a bit of a challenge for the front array and decided on a 7.1.4 platform. The client wanted a big screen TV but also wanted a very strong front channel using in-wall speakers. Due to the main support beams being in the way we couldn’t sink any speakers in the wall. So to fix this we built a custom cabinet to house the speakers that could be mounted below the TV as an uber-passive-soundbar.
After our pre-wire (and a lot of holes to run the cables) the client painted the room with a nautical theme and then we came onsite to do the final fit-off. The last piece of the puzzle was a small cabinet to house the Denon AVR and tidy the cables. A bit of time was spent on the calibration with the roof angles for the atmos, but the ultimate end was an amazing room that makes the client want to watch movies and content all the time.

PROJECT:
The Discreet Home Cinema
The client spent some time with us in late 2020 and we assisted with the technical aspects of the project.
The brief was to provide an upgrade from a TV based system to a new platform that would give them a large viewing area, but when not used was not intrusive in the room. We spec’d an Indigo Motorized Screen, Denon 550BT, Cambridge Audio Minx Speakers and a Epson TW9400 to provide the imagery.
All this had to mounted somewhere, and somewhere that was partially hidden. So to provide a platform for the AV gear in the lounge, the client wanted a shelf to be built over an existing window space. The shelf needed to be strong to take 55kg of gear, and it needed to fit with the room. We designed and built the shelf and it was installed in March 2021.
It looks fantastic and goes with the room style.
