A Fabulous Home Theatre Space
Rapallo were contacted by the client as they were building a specific space in their home for a home cinema space.
We were engaged to provide our expert support developing the product specifications for the room and pre-wiring. Using our extensive list of AV products, we managed the product supply and installation. Finally, once the project was completed and the room fully furnished, we used the ARCAM Direc Live to calibrate the room.
The end result was a fabulous room with a big sound and stunning imagery from the JVC projector.

PROJECT:
Multi-Use Bar & Conference Space
Rapallo were contacted by the venue as they had aging audio and visual technology and were wanting an upgrade to make the existing 5 zones to work together and use streaming services.
The venue consisted of 5 zones (bar x 2 / outdoor / movies / presentation room). It required a system that could pull all that together and offer multiple content types across multiple zones. The overriding request from the client was it had to be easy to use and provide better sound (esp in the bar and outdoor areas) using streaming services such as Spotify. Our team had to work with the existing infrastructure and cabling as access to the roof cavities wasn’t available to re-cable or change leads or location of cabling.
The team at Rapallo deployed a Yamaha based platform using four differing types of AVR’s that were linked to MusicCast controllers situated in 3 places in the venue. This allows 5 zones of sound (with over 22 speakers & two projectors), or a mixture of sound in some zones and visual presentation content in others, all controlled from the wall based tablets throughout the venue.

PROJECT:
Background Sound at the Cazador
Rapallo were contacted by the owners as they wanted the ability to play music in their restaurant, but the system needed to be subtle and easy to use.
We supplied and installed two pairs of Polk Signature S15 speakers with wall mounts and a Yamaha R-N402 Network Receiver, and then did the installation of the system. The music / sound is controlled by the Yamaha MusicCast system on the clients smartphone, so they can create any soundscape they want with the range of streaming services available on the platform.

PROJECT:
Pukekohe Hill School
Rapallo were contacted by Pukekohe Hill School to assist with adding a projection system for the school hall. They had some speakers already install in the hall and they were in need of a projector/screen for other events. There were two key considerations:
- The projection platform was required to integrate with the existing mixing desk and speakers that were already onsite, and
- The space was quite light intensive as there were no curtains and a large skylight towards the front of the hall.
We supplied and installed a Panasonic PT-570E projector on a Vogels mount, and a Yamaha Aventage RX-A780 AVR to control the sound / images. Our team created a bracket / foundation for the projector mount due to the ceiling not having any fixing points, we ran new cabling and added a new bar to hold the 150:” Grandview motorised screen. This was all integrated into the existing mixing desk and speakers. We also tidied up the AV cabinet and cabling.
The outcome was fantastic with a 150″ screen, the visual content can be seen clearly in all areas of the hall. The AV cabinet is now clean and tidy and it allows the school a whole new depth of uses for the hall at Pukekohe Hill School.

PROJECT:
The Hidden Movie Sanctuary
Building the perfect hidden cinema out in the rural farmlands.
Our client contacted us early 2019 to ask us to help them with their project. They were building a large shed on their rural property and they wanted to create the perfect movie sanctuary inside it.
Based on the room dimensions and budget, we provided the client with a specific AV plan for the dimensions of the space and their budge. As the build progressed, we also went onsite or provided phone assistance when issues or questions popped up. Late in May 2020 we were called onsite again as they had completed the build and they needed assistance with the final room calibration. And WOW, what a place

With a stepped up viewing area and two large home cinema couches, a bar fridge, mood lighting and a myriad of bean bags, this is an amazing space that looks from the outside to be the farm implements shed.

PROJECT:
Home Theatre Refresh
Rapallo were contacted by clients in central Auckland. They had an existing home theatre room and wanted to upgrade the entire room.
We worked with the client to come up with an AV spec that suited their needs, and the acoustics of the room. Our team of builders / electricians then removed the old cabling (as it ran around the room in ugly conduit) removed the gib and re-routed all the cables in the walls. We replaced an existing door and replaced it with a new cavity slider to remove the space the doors took up. The AV cabinet was updated and tidied up including adding access from the rear and LED lighting and the door was made to fit into the wall so it was almost invisible. The room was then put back together, plastered and painted.
The client choose a great colour for the room (shark) and then a fantastic red carpet to make it a really amazing space. The windows were blanked out and the room is now a “movie santuary” that is pitch black when the lighting is turned off.
It was a complete renovation and the result was outstanding.
The AV system installed in this project was optimised for the dedicated home theatre room and it included:

- Custom made AV cabinet door and wall hung racking to provide more space
- Klipsch in-ceiling speakers for the Atmos with custom made mounting rings
- SVS Prime Elevation rears and surrounds

PROJECT:
Home Theatre / Multi-Room Sound
Rapallo were contacted by clients in North Auckland during the early phase of a new build to investigate sound and vision options for their new build. We consulted on the products and options available and provided on-going support during the build process. Our installation team did the pre-wire, speaker fitment and cuts during as soon as the gib was added to the walls and then the final fit-out once the project was completed. All ready for the Chinese New Year celebrations.
The system installed in this project contained:
- Dedicated home theatre / media room with a 7.1 setup in the lower level, including
- Custom made acoustic transparent projection screen
- Klipsch in-ceiling speakers
- Klipsch “shallow-space” in-wall speakers
- Optoma UHD projector
- Yamaha Aventage AVR
- Google ChromeCast
- Levels 2 and 3 included an integrated Yamaha MusicCast with:
- 4 Yamaha AVR’s controlling 8 zones in various areas of the house on two levels
- Controlled via the Yamaha MusicCast App on the clients phone / tablet
- Provided access to room specific sound using streamed and local music
This was a four step project based around the clients build timelines and requirements;
- Initial pre-wire was completed before the walls were covered
- Post gib and before plastering / painting, our team cut all the speaker cut-outs and measured speaker spaces to ensure final fit
- Before the scaffolding was removed we installed all the speakers that were at height
- On completion of the homes interior, the final AV fit-out was completed
The outcome was fantastic, the client was over the moon with the sound and the look of the theatre room.

PROJECT:
Outdoor Entertainment Area
Rapallo were contacted by clients in Tauranga as they were building a new outdoor pavillion to link their house / pool / tennis court. They wanted some great sounds and to future proof the area, so at a later date they could install an outdoor theatre areas.. There were two key considerations:
- The systems were outside and needed to be environmentally sound, and
- Needed to be able to be added to at a later date;
- The sound needed to be GREAT
We supplied a Yamaha Aventage AVR (at this stage used only for MusicCast) and four Definitive Technology AW6500 outdoor speakers in black.
The outcome was fantastic, the client was over the moon with the sound and the look of them.

PROJECT:
Woodlands Park School Hall
Rapallo were contacted by the school to assist with adding a projection system to their hall. They had some speakers coming to the hall that required the AV system and they were in need of a projector for other events. There were two key considerations:
- The projection platform was required to integrate with the existing mixing desk and speakers that were already onsite, and
- The space was very light intensive as there were no curtains and a large skylight towards the front of the hall.
We supplied and installed a Panasonic 7,500 Lumen projector, Yamaha Aventage 780 AVR and a Panasonic Blu-Ray player, as well as cabling to allow for multiple HDMI access points for external devices. This was all integrated into the existing mixing desk and speakers.
The outcome was fantastic with a 4.5m screen projected on the back wall of the stage, the visual content can be seen clearly in all areas of the hall. The AV cabinet is now clean and tidy and it allows the school a whole new depth of uses for the hall.

PROJECT:
Church | Screen Install & Projector Setup
Rapallo were contacted by the local church as their existing projection screen was old and tired. They wanted to install a new screen and setup the existing projector.
Our team worked out the throw distance for the Epson projector and we then custom built a Motorised Indigo screen to 144in. Onsite installation was managed for the client. While onsite we also setup the projector for the new size and checked the projector mountings, as it was not solidly fixed.
