The THX Theatre in Tauranga is the latest dedicated cinema project from the Rapallo team.
Like many great projects, this one started as a thought, a dream, and a long-term plan from an existing client. We had already worked with him on a previous home, and at the time he told us that when he eventually bought his next house, it would have a proper dedicated theatre space.
A few years later, that plan became real.
Once the client had secured the right home, our team completed an initial onsite visit in Tauranga to assess the space. The room had great potential, and yes, it was absolutely suitable for a serious home theatre.
From there, the client made the trip to Auckland to experience our demo room at Rapallo. That visit helped shape the direction of the project and gave him a clear idea of what was possible in his own home.
Bensan managed the project from the Rapallo side, taking care of the room design, speaker placement, wiring layout, product selection and technical specifications. Working closely with the client, he helped map out a theatre that would suit the space, the performance goals and the way the room would be used.
The client then engaged local builders and electricians in Tauranga. Under our guidance and specifications, they prepared the room so it was ready for the final installation and commissioning.
A few months later, the Rapallo team headed back onsite for two days to complete the final product installation, system commissioning and setup.
The result is a dedicated theatre room that has been carefully planned from the start, built to specification, and finished with the kind of performance our client had been dreaming about for years.

Outside of the room construction, the specifications of this project are:
- 3 x Klipsch THX 8000L front LCR speakers
- 4 x Klipch THX 8000S surround speakers
- 4 x Klipch THX 5000S in-ceiling Atmos speakers
- 4 x SVS SB-5000 R|Volution subwoofers
- Denon AVC-A1H 15.4 Ch 8K AV Receiver
- Sony BRAVIA VPL-XW5100ES Home Theatre Projector + strong mount
- 3 x Theatre Chairs
- AudioQuest speaker cable, subwoofer cable & HDMI cable.
